Trump threatens Iran: We will hit bridges and power plants if you don't

US President Donald Trump has warned Iran of new attacks on strategic infrastructure if Tehran does not return to the negotiating table.

In an interview with Fox News, Trump said that next week the US could hit Iranian bridges and power plants if a deal is not reached. "We're going to blow up all their power plants. We're going to blow up all their bridges if they don't sit down at the table and negotiate," he said.

The statements come as tensions between Washington and Tehran have escalated, with the two sides exchanging attacks for a fourth day in a row. The US has resumed its blockade of Iranian ports, while Iran has responded with attacks on US targets and ships in the Gulf region.

Trump also announced that he had abandoned plans to impose a 20% tariff on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, preferring new trade and investment deals with Gulf countries. However, he stressed that pressure on Iran would continue.

Meanwhile, the United Nations has recalled that deliberate attacks on civilian infrastructure violate international humanitarian law and may constitute war crimes. The escalation of the conflict has also affected global markets, raising oil prices and slowing maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz./ CNA
