Three million Europeans work in information and communication technology

The European Statistics Office, Eurostat, has revealed that in 2022, three million people were employed in information and communication technology (ICT) roles related to the European Union, with men making up 84.4 percent of this workforce.

Compared to the previous year, 2022 witnessed a significant increase of 6.7 percent in ICT employment, with three million people engaged in this field,  reports "SchengenVisaInfo.com".

Among the three million ICT employers, men dominated the industry at 84 percent, totaling 2.5 million of the total workforce.

In contrast, women made up 15.6 percent of the workforce, with a total of 463,100 employees. This marks a 4.4 percent increase from last year when the number was 443,400.

When analyzing EU members, Slovenia (93 percent), Latvia (91 percent), Poland (90.3 percent), the Czech Republic (89.9 percent), Belgium (88.7 percent) and Slovakia (88.5 percent) stand out for having the highest percentage of men with ICT education among the employed population.

On the other hand, the data shows that the highest percentages of women equipped with ICT education were found in Bulgaria (31.5 percent), Denmark (31.3 percent), Cyprus (30.2 percent) and Romania (29.9 percent)./ CNA
