Life in the tunnels/ The hostage released by Hamas confesses: We had doctors,
Yocheved Lifschitz

Yocheved Lifschitz, who was held captive in Gaza for more than two weeks before being released on Monday night, has criticized Israeli security for allowing Hamas attackers to enter Israel on October 7.

Speaking to reporters outside Tel Aviv's Sourasky Medical Center on Tuesday, Lifschitz accused the Israel Defense Forces of not taking threats from Hamas seriously.

"We could not have known that we could enter this stage. The lack of awareness from the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) and the IDF hurt us a lot. They warned us three weeks ago, burned the fields, sent fire balloons and the IDF did not treated seriously," she added, referring to Hamas.

As for the kidnapping, she says that members of the Hamas group took care of the hostages.

""When we got there, the people told us that they are people who believe in the Koran and will not harm us and we will have the same conditions as they have in the tunnels. There were guards, an assistant and a doctor who took care of the fact that we would have the same medicine that we need. They took care of the sanitary side of things so that we wouldn't get sick," she said.

Lifschitz said they slept on mattresses, describing the tunnels as "soggy everywhere." While she described the tunnels as spider webs.

Liftschitz was released Monday evening, along with her neighbor and friend Nurit Cooper, 79. More than 200 people are believed to have been captured in Israel and brought to Gaza./ CNA
