"The meeting lasted about 20 hours"/ Trump: Iran promised to open the

US President Donald Trump has reacted through a post on Truth Social regarding the situation with Iran and recent developments in the region.

In his message, Trump accuses Iran of not keeping its promise to open the Strait of Hormuz, stressing that this has caused uncertainty and consequences for countries around the world. He adds that allegations of placing mines in this waterway have significantly increased the risk to maritime transport and calls on Tehran to open it "immediately and without delay."

As for the peace talks, Trump says negotiations with Iran have lasted about 20 hours but have not produced an agreement on the most important issue. According to him, Iran remains determined not to give up its nuclear ambitions.

Trump's reaction

Iran promised to open the Strait of Hormuz, but it has knowingly not done so. This has caused anxiety, displacement, and suffering for many people and countries around the world. They say they have laid mines in the water, even though their entire navy and most of their mine-laying equipment have been completely destroyed. They may have, but what shipowner would want to take the risk? There is a great lack of honor and permanent damage to the reputation of Iran and what is left of its “leaders,” but we are beyond that. As they promised, they must immediately begin the process of opening this international waterway quickly! They are breaking every law possible.

I have been fully briefed by Vice President JD Vance, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner, on the meeting that took place in Islamabad, thanks to the fine and very competent leadership of Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif. They are extraordinary men and they thank me over and over again for saving 30 to 50 million lives in what would have been a terrible war with India. I always appreciate hearing this, the level of humanity that is being talked about is unimaginable.

The meeting with Iran began early in the morning and lasted all night, approximately 20 hours. I could give many details and talk about many things that have been achieved, but there is only one thing that matters, Iran is not ready to give up its nuclear ambitions! In many ways, the points that were agreed upon are better than continuing our military operations until the end, but all of this is insignificant compared to allowing nuclear power into the hands of such unstable, difficult and unpredictable people. My three representatives, during all this time, became, not surprisingly, very friendly and respectful towards the representatives of Iran, Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf, Abbas Araghchi and Ali Bagheri, but this does not matter because they were very firm on the most important issue and, as I have always said, from the beginning and for many years, Iran will never have nuclear weapons!
