This Saturday, in Gjilan, the first drone produced in Kosovo was inaugurated. The first drone, called "Skifteri", reaches an altitude of 5,000 meters, an operating range of 20 km and a speed of 270 km/h.

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, was also present at the ceremony.

Through a post on social media, Kurti expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, which he said will serve the future of the defense industry.  

"We are building and developing the future of the defense industry and the advancement of combat drones in Kosovo. Our country is becoming a country that produces. In Gjilan, together with Mayor Hyseni, we visited the military drone production companies "Skifteri" and civilian drones, from "Future Minds Academy" and MIGA SkyShield MAR.

"Made in Gjilan" except of course "Made in Kosovo". The "K1" kamikaze drone reaches a maximum speed of 180km/h and an altitude of up to 2500 meters. While the "Skifter" reaches an altitude of 5000 meters, an operating range of 20km and a speed of 270km/h.

"We have invested in defense and security by purchasing Bayraktar TB-2, Puma drones and, most recently, Skydagger suicide drones from our friendly and partner countries. Now we are producing combat drones ourselves. As a government, both at the central and local levels, we will support and encourage capacity building and production, while not stopping investments in defense and security," Kurti wrote. /CNA
