Explosions in two cities in Russia

The Russian cities of Taganrog and Samara faced explosions on Friday, July 28.

According to the governor of Taganrog, a city in the Rostov region, Vasily Golubev, preliminary data indicate that it is a "rocket explosion".

Later, he explained that the explosion damaged the walls and roof of an art museum in this city, adding that 15 people have sought help, nine of whom were taken to hospital urgently.

Rescue teams were at the scene, Golubev said.

Russia's Defense Ministry said it shot down another Ukrainian missile in the Azov region.

Russian media reported that a large explosion hit an oil refinery in the city of Samara on the Volga River.

According to a local representative, the explosion occurred at the Kuibisev oil refinery, which is one of the largest refineries in the region. He added that there were no injuries or deaths from this explosion.

A preliminary investigation found that the explosion could have come from the placement of an explosive device inside the building.

Unlike Taganrog, Samara is located deep within the territory of Russia.

This city is located about 850 kilometers east of Moscow, which means that it is about 1,300 kilometers away from the nearest border with Ukraine./ REL
