The United States, Britain, Canada, Japan and France have formed an alliance to develop a supply chain for the raw material that enables nuclear energy production.

The announcement, which was made during meetings of the group of seven most industrialized countries (G7) officials, aims to exclude Russia from international nuclear energy markets, the British Department for Energy Security said.

All five countries will use their nuclear sectors to undermine Russia's role in the supply chain, making it impossible for Russian President Vladimir Putin to finance his war in Ukraine with revenues from this sector.

British Energy Secretary Grant Shapps said: "The UK has been at the forefront of global efforts to support Ukraine, defeat Russian President Vladimir Putin and ensure that neither he nor anyone else like him don't think they can hold the world in their fist, as far as energy is concerned".

"This is the next step, joining other countries, to show Putin that Russia is no longer welcome."

The British Department of Energy has said that this agreement will strengthen the nuclear energy sector in Britain, helping to increase independence and reduce electricity bills.

The raw material is used to power nuclear power stations, which produce around 15 per cent of Britain's energy.

This country aims to increase energy production from nuclear reactors to 25 percent by 2050./ REL
