Scholz announces additional military support for Kiev during Zelensky's

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz vowed on Friday that his country would support Kiev with a new military package worth 1.4 billion euros by the end of this year.

Scholz, who met on Friday in Berlin with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, said the new military aid included anti-aircraft, tanks, artillery and drones.

The aid will be given jointly with the partner countries, Belgium, Denmark and Norway.

"This is a clear message to [Russian President Vladimir] Putin: buying time doesn't work. We will not limit support for Ukraine," said Scholz.

Zelensky is on a tour of Europe where he intends to present to the allied countries the "victory plan" to end the war in Ukraine, as well as to request permission to use the weapons of the allies for attacks deep inside Russia.

Germany's budget for this year foresees almost 7.5 billion euros in military aid to Ukraine, while the budget plan for next year foresees about 4 billion euros.

The war in Ukraine started on February 24, 2022.

Russian President Vladimir Putin calls the war a "special military operation" to demilitarize Ukraine.

The West has responded to Russia, hitting the economy of this country with harsh sanctions.
