Russia attacks Odesa again

A missile attack carried out by Russia on May 2 in the port city of Odesa injured 14 people and caused damage to critical civilian infrastructure, said the head of the regional military administration, Oleh Kiper.

Kiper wrote on Telegram that the attack in the Ukrainian city of Odesa, located on the Black Sea, caused a fire, adding that the warehouse of a local post office was damaged.

A day earlier, one person was killed by Russian attacks in Odesa.

In recent days, Russia has repeatedly attacked Odesa, including on April 29, when it used Iskandr missiles. Five civilians were killed during that attack and 23 others were wounded, officials said.

The news of the attack in Odesa comes on the same day that local authorities in the Russian region of Smolensk reported that Ukraine has attacked the region with drones.

Russia said there were no casualties from the attack, while the Russian Defense Ministry claimed it shot down 12 Ukrainian drones in five regions.

Ukraine, which is facing the invasion that Moscow launched in 2022, has not commented on these Russian claims, which could not be independently confirmed./ REL
