Russia attacks Ukraine's critical infrastructure

Russian forces have carried out airstrikes targeting several regions across Ukraine as Moscow attempts to make progress on the front, Ukrainian officials said.

Meanwhile, a Russian governor blamed Ukraine for a drone attack that disrupted operations at a major oil pipeline pumping station on September 27.

The attacks come at a time when the chances of peace seem slim and many expect the Russian occupation of Ukraine to continue into its fifth year this winter.

Russian strikes hit critical infrastructure and a residential building in a "massive attack" in Ukraine's Vinnytsia region, regional official Natalia Zabolotna said on Telegram. Rail service was disrupted, but no casualties were reported.

Drone strikes damaged two high-rise residential buildings and other buildings in Zaporizhia, which is close to the front, said the head of the regional military administration, Ivan Fedorov. The city and surrounding region have been the target of ongoing attacks.

Two people were injured after rocket attacks in the Sumy region, which borders Russia, and a house and a company were damaged by shelling in the southern city of Kherson, officials said.

Ukrainian air defenses shot down or neutralized 97 of the 115 drones launched by Russia overnight, the Ukrainian Air Force said. The military reported heavy fighting in some parts of the front over the past 24 hours, particularly around the town of Pokrovsk.

The governor of Russia's Chuvashia region, Oleg Nikolayev, said Ukrainian drones hit an oil pumping station near the village of Konar, about 1,200 kilometers from Ukraine. He said the attack caused minor damage.

Ukraine has intensified attacks on Russia's oil refineries, transport terminals and other infrastructure, aiming to undermine Moscow's ability to wage war and hit energy export revenues .
