US Secretary of State Marco Rubio assured today that Iran will not be able to impose tariffs on the Strait of Hormuz as part of any final agreement with the United States, saying such a regulation would violate international law.
"This is an international sea lane. No country is allowed to collect taxes or fees in an international sea lane," Rubio told reporters.
The head of US diplomacy arrived in Abu Dhabi tonight, the first stop on a tour of Gulf countries aimed at reassuring US allies who have been targeted by Iranian missiles and drones during the war with Iran, which they opposed.
