Poland bans the entry of vehicles registered in Russia

Poland will ban the entry of passenger vehicles registered in Russia. The decision will take effect on Sunday, September 17, Polish state media, PAP, reported, citing Interior Minister Mariusz Kaminski.

"This stop on the Polish border will be applied from tomorrow, so it will come into force at midnight", said Minister Kaminski during a visit to Terespol, which is located on the border with Belarus.

Trucks that are registered in Russia are already banned from entering Poland.

"This is a further element of the sanctions imposed on Russia and its citizens in connection with the brutal war in Ukraine and the fact that the Russian state today poses a threat to international security ," said Kaminski.

The West has imposed a series of sanctions on Russia after Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered his troops to attack Ukraine in February last year.

Kaminski said the decision was made following the European Commission's guidelines that were published on September 8. It said that cars registered in Russia will be banned from entering the European Union.

Since Russia launched its unprovoked invasion of Ukraine on February 24 last year, the EU, the United States and other countries have imposed tough sanctions on Moscow./ REL
