Kosovo Independence/ Donald Trump congratulatory letter to Vjosa Osman

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has congratulated the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, on the 17th anniversary of Independence in a letter.

In the letter to Osman, Trump says the US will continue to work with Kosovo to strengthen democratic institutions. He also says he looks forward to a more productive relationship between the US and Kosovo.

 

President Trump's full letter:

Dear Madam President,

On behalf of the people of the United States, please accept my warmest congratulations to you and the people of Kosovo on the occasion of Independence Day. Kosovo's journey as a sovereign nation has been marked by resilience and determination.

The United States fully supports Kosovo and its commitment to building a democratic society where all its citizens can live and thrive together. The ties between our peoples are strong, and we look forward to expanding them, particularly through increased investment opportunities, to bring greater prosperity to both our countries. The United States will continue to work with Kosovo to strengthen democratic institutions and promote economic growth through a stable and fair business environment.

The United States looks forward to building a more productive relationship with the government of Kosovo in the coming year. As we work with Kosovo and its neighbors to build a more prosperous and secure region, it is important that Kosovo further integrates with the Euro-Atlantic community. Kosovo’s steadfast support for Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression is greatly appreciated.

The anniversary of Kosovo's independence is a moment to honor the achievements of the past as well as to look toward a brighter future and deeper relations between our nations. I send my best wishes to the people of Kosovo on this holiday./ CNA
