The judicial system in North Macedonia is likely on the verge of collapse. This situation comes as a result of many problems in this system and, most recently, with the initiative to dismiss the Chief Prosecutor Ljubco Kocevski.

The government estimates that Kocevski's actions have negatively impacted the country's assessment of justice, resulting in low scores on the Transparency Index.

Kocevski is accused of legal violations and mismanagement of the Supreme Prosecutor's Office, with the argument that he acted outside his powers.

The Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Hristijan Mickoski, announced that the deputies of his party, VMRO-DPMNE, will submit a motion to Parliament for the dismissal of several members of the Judicial Council.

Mickoski, in a post on social media, emphasized that "the state and citizens need justice and North Macedonia must fight against its corrupt swamp."

"We cannot do a complete analysis, nor detect anomalies in such a short time, but we can elect a Judicial Council that will objectively, without partisan conditions, be able to clarify this political quagmire and be a kind of monitor of how judges behave, what decisions they make and why," Mickoski said./CNA
