Kosovo/ Who has the votes to form the Government?

The preliminary results of the February 9 parliamentary elections in Kosovo create uncertainty about the new composition of the Assembly, but also of the new executive, political experts say.

Based on preliminary results published by the Central Election Commission, the Vetëvendosje Movement is the party that received the most votes.

This party won about 41 percent of the vote, failing to repeat the success of the 2021 elections, when it received over 50 percent of the vote.

With 22.37 percent of the votes, the Democratic Party of Kosovo ranked second, while the Democratic League of Kosovo ranked third with 17.57 percent of the votes.

The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo won 7.56 percent of the vote.

The Serbian List won 3.98 percent of the votes, which means the majority of the votes of the Serbian community in the competition with five other political entities that competed for the votes of this community.

The final result of the votes will determine the new composition of the 120-seat Assembly, while the MPs will then elect the new Government.

Non-majority communities have 20 guaranteed seats in the Kosovo Assembly. Of these, ten seats are guaranteed for the Serb community. /REL
