Offers for 3 presidential candidacies/ Kurti: No proposal from the opposition,

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti delivered his speech at today's plenary session on the election of the president. Kurti said that the election of the president is crucial for the continuation of the functioning of the Assembly and that a new election would hinder the work of the government and delay progress in every sector.

Further in his speech, Kurti said that there has been no evasion on the part of the LVV in assuming the responsibilities of governing.

Focusing on the blockade of the non-constituting of the Assembly, Kurti said that the purpose of this blockade was to damage the Vetëvendosje Movement, but it turned out to be to the detriment of the state and the citizens. According to Kurti, the same logic is being used in the blockade for the election of the president.

The Prime Minister of Kosovo said that the blockade comes from undeclared, but functional, pre-election coalitions.

Regarding the LVV proposal for 3 non-political names, Kurti said that no proposal has come from the opposition parties.

" The presidential election is crucial for the continuation of the functioning of the Assembly. New elections would hinder the work of the government and delay progress in every sector. It has been 75 days since the formation of the new government. The accusations that the LVV and its partners shied away from responsibility are not true. There has been no evasion in taking on the responsibilities of governing. This is verifiable. The question is who did the 10-month blockade of the Assembly serve? By blocking the Assembly, the opposition was also blocking itself. The purpose of the blockade was to damage the LVV, but it resulted in harm to the citizens and the state. The same logic is being used today. The country went to elections in December 2025 because there was no will from the opposition to create a coalition with the LVV. The result of the elections must be respected and respect is not submission. The opposition understands compromise as submission.

"LDK has despised every offer we have made, even refusing meetings. We have pre-election coalitions that are not being formed, but they are known and this is causing the blockade. The election of the president is a constitutional obligation of this Assembly in its entirety. We have requested three non-political names, but we have not received any yet. None of the opposition entities has made any proposals. They claim that LVV is taking all the power, but when given the opportunity, they choose silence ," Kurti said.
