Offensive against Russia/Zelensky: Progress on the battlefield has been

The Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, has said that progress on the battlefield has been " slower than they would like ".

Ukraine's military offensive to recapture territories occupied by Russia has been underway for several weeks.

" Some people believe that this is like some kind of Hollywood movie and they expect immediate results. It is not" , says the Ukrainian President.

"People's lives are at risk ," he added.

Ukraine has said that during the counteroffensive it has recaptured 8 villages in the eastern region of Zaporizhia and in the eastern region of Donetsk.

Zelensky emphasized that it will not be easy because 200,000 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory have been mined by Russian forces.

"Whatever some may want, including attempts to put pressure on us, but with all due respect, we will advance on the battlefield in a way that we believe is best," Zelensky added .

He reiterated the need for Ukraine to be given security guarantees by NATO, but added that ultimately his country's goal is membership in the Western Military Alliance.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg made it clear last week that there are no plans to extend an invitation to Ukraine at next month's summit in Lithuania.

" Stoltenberg knows my position ", said the Ukrainian president, among other things./ CNA.al
