The US Coast Guard warns/ The submarine has 40 hours of oxygen left

Rescuers are desperately searching for the ship that went missing in the North Atlantic Ocean on Sunday.

Rescue teams in a remote area of ??the Atlantic Ocean are racing against time to find a missing diver before the oxygen supply runs out for the five crew members who were on an expedition to the wreck of the Titanic.

Canadian authorities reported that the carbon fiber vessel was delayed Sunday night, launching an international rescue effort in waters about 700 kilometers south of St John's, Newfoundland.

On board were a pilot, a well-known British adventurer, two members of a Pakistani business family and a Titanic expert.

Named Titan, the sub had a 96-hour supply of oxygen when it launched at about 6 a.m. Sunday, according to David Concannon, a consultant with OceanGate Expeditions, which oversaw the mission.

That means the oxygen supply could run out as early as 6 a.m. Thursday./ CNA
