Alongside Putin and Xi Jinping, Vučić will participate in the military parade in Beijing

Serbian President Aleksandar Vu?i? will participate in a major military parade in Beijing on September 3 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of China's victory in World War II.

The Belgrade Presidency announced today that Vu?i? will visit Beijing from September 2 to 4.

In addition to Xi Jinping, he will also meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin and a number of Chinese leaders and businessmen.

The Beijing military parade will be attended by leaders of 26 countries participating in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, which is currently taking place in Tianjin.

Despite its aspirations to join the European Union, Serbia has maintained close ties with both Beijing, a major investor in the Balkan country, and Moscow, which supplies most of the country's gas.

Since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, Serbia has refused to impose sanctions in contrast to the EU, despite its hopes for membership. /CNA
