The reorganization of ministries in North Macedonia is approved

With 88 votes for and 22 against, the Assembly of North Macedonia approved on Saturday the Law on the Organization of Ministries in the new Government.

The law foresees that there will be 20 ministries out of the 16 ministries that currently exist.

The deputies of the Albanian opposition - the European Front - also voted for the changes proposed by the representative for prime minister, Hristijan Mickoski, enabling the majority parties, VMRO DPMNE and the VLEN coalition to secure two-thirds of the votes.

The support of the Law by the Albanian opposition was made in exchange for the formation of an ad hoc commission in the Assembly, for the supervision of the fair representation of ethnicities in institutions.

The approved changes mainly concern the economy and administration sectors, but also others.

Two ministries will be formed from the Ministry for Information Society and Administration, one for Digitization and the other for Administration.

The Ministry of Economy and Labor will be formed from the Ministry of Economy, while the energy sector, which functioned within the Economy, will become the Ministry of Energy and Mines.

There will also be the Minister for Social Policy, Demography and Youth, then the Minister for Culture and Tourism, as well as the Minister for Sports.

The approval of the changes paves the way for the formation of a new Government between VMRO DPMNE, the VLEN coalition and the ZNAM movement.

The talks between these parties on the division of ministries have already ended.

Mandate for Prime Minister, Hristijan Mickoski, said on Friday that he will present the new composition of the Government for a vote in the Parliament immediately after the Law on the Organization of Ministries is voted on.

The government is voted with 61 votes of deputies out of 120 in the Assembly of North Macedonia./ REL
