The President of Montenegro, Milo Djukanovic, on Tuesday rejected the proposal that Miodrag Lekic be the new mandate for the formation of the government, while he rejected the proposal to shorten the mandate of the current parliament, to pave the way for new elections.

On Monday, the pro-Serbian Democratic Front, the Democrats and the URA of outgoing Prime Minister Dritan Abazovi?, agreed that Miodrag Leki? should be the mandate, but did not submit the signatures of their 41 deputies to the 81-nation parliament. These parties won the majority in the parliamentary elections of August 2020.

Presidenti Gjukanoviç në një letër drejtuar kryetares së parlamentit, tha se nuk mund të pranojë propozimin që Miodrag Lekiç të jetë mandatar për formimin e qeverisë së re, meqë, sipas tij, nuk janë plotësuar kushtet e nevojshme.

Ai tha se nuk ishte i bindur se ekziston një shumicë e qartë për formimin e një qeverie, “që do t’u ofronte zgjidhje problemeve shumë të vështira në planin financiar, ekonomik, juridik, institucional dhe politik”. Ai vuri theksin te aspekti i sigurisë duke nënvizuar se kriza aktuale në Evropë, e shkaktuar nga agresioni i Rusisë në Ukrainë ka ndikime në sigurinë e Ballkanit Perëndimor.

Presidenti Gjukanoviç tha se zgjidhja e situatës politike është shkurtimi i mandatit të parlamentit, që do të hapte mundësinë e organizimit të zgjedhjeve të parakohshme parlamentare.

Montenegro has been in a caretaker government since August when parliament passed a motion of no confidence in the government of Prime Minister Dritan Abazovic, shortly after he signed a controversial deal with the Serbian Orthodox Church.

The agreement sparked clashes within the ruling coalition from the start. A part of the governing parties emphasized that the agreement is against the national interests of Montenegro and is not in accordance with the Montenegrin constitution and laws./ VOA
