Mickoski: EU enlargement with the Western Balkans means reunification of Europe

The Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Hristijan Mickoski, during his participation in the European Union enlargement summit, stated that the membership of the Western Balkan countries means the reunification of Europe. Mickoski also spoke specifically about North Macedonia, expressing his belief that his country's future lies in the European Union.

"Enlargement with the Western Balkans means reunification of Europe. I think that the future of my country is in the EU. Despite all the humiliations and disappointments, which are part of the current frustration of our citizens, we share the same values. We believe that the integration of the Western Balkans into the EU will mean other values ??for the EU itself ," he said.

More than 20 years after becoming a candidate for EU membership, North Macedonia is still waiting for the opening of the first chapter of negotiations. After making the constitutional changes stemming from the bilateral protocol signed with Bulgaria, it is expected to start opening the chapters for EU membership. /CNA
