Meloni agrees to hold Trump-Putin meeting in Italy/Moscow refuses

Italian media reports that Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has accepted US President Donald Trump's proposal to hold the Trump-Putin bilateral summit in Italy. The proposal was made during a phone conversation between Meloni and Trump.

The meeting will take place after Trump's ultimatum to Russia to find a path to peace with Ukraine or face new sanctions.

Trump's proposal was accepted by Ukraine, but rejected by the Kremlin because Italy, for them, is pro-Kiev.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has proposed the United Arab Emirates as the venue for the meeting.

It is reported that Putin's decision not to accept Italy as a venue for the Trump-Putin summit also includes the arrest warrant issued against him by the International Criminal Court./ CNA
