The 7th Edition of the "Tirana Marathon" took place today, which has become a beautiful tradition for the capital, welcoming more than 4,000 participants from Albania and over 40 foreign countries.

The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, at the start of this race, expressed his gratitude to all those who have joined the Tirana Marathon this year.

"A greeting to those who came from Ukraine, Israel, Kosovo and all the friends who honored us and beautified the city. This year we have a record number of participants, starting with our Olympic champions, the European champion Luiza Gega, who is competing in 21 km to break her personal and national record. Everyone is welcome in Tirana, because a big city has room for everyone," said Veliaj.

He also had a special thanks for the citizens who have understood the request of the municipality to stop the circulation of vehicles on the streets of the capital. "They are also helping us to have a city that welcomes the marathon, so that it goes as smoothly as possible, without incidents and without traffic problems. I want to thank our group of volunteers, who is a visitor will have the opportunity to see both sides of the city, the country that is suffering from the economy, but also the green space, and maybe in this planting season you will join us for the next tree, so that you have the opportunity, when you come for the next marathon, to say that I also planted a root in Tirana," declared Veliaj.
