The Palestinian leader cut in front of the international community: We will not

A number of leaders from the Middle East and Europe have gathered in Cairo, Egypt for the summit to discuss de-escalation of the Israel-Gaza war.

In this meeting, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said that they cannot be forced to leave their land.

"We will never accept displacement, we will remain on our land regardless of the challenges," he said.

Abbas is the head of the Palestinian Authority, which has control over areas of the occupied West Bank but not the Hamas-run Gaza Strip.

Egypt and other Arab states have previously said that a mass influx of Palestinian refugees fleeing the war would be unacceptable because it would amount to the expulsion of Palestinians from their land.

The meeting, called the Peace Summit, also includes officials from Jordan, Qatar, Italy, Spain, the EU and Great Britain. But the main notable absences include Israel, the US and Iran./ CNA
