The Serbian List calls for a boycott of the elections in the north
The chairman of the Serbian List, Goran Raki?

Lista Serbe, the largest party of Kosovo Serbs, called on Serbs from the north of the country to "completely boycott" the local elections, scheduled for Sunday, April 23.

The statement states that this party calls on "all the Serbian people" to remain calm on Sunday and not fall for the "provocations of the regime of (Prime Minister of Kosovo) Albin Kurti", whose sole purpose, as he said , is "the expulsion of Serbs from the north".

In her statement, it is also said that the prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, "wants to conquer the municipalities of the north of Kosovo" through "occupying mayors".

For none of these claims, Lista Serbe did not provide any evidence to support them.

"Serbs should look down on all those who plan to come out and participate in this illegal election process, which is against the interests of the Serbian people," said Lista Serbe.

On Sunday, April 23, early local elections are held in the municipalities of: North Mitrovica, Zubin Potok, Zveçan and Leposavic - all inhabited by a Serb majority.

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has called on citizens with the right to vote to vote.

In a statement given to Radio "Free Europe", the American ambassador to Kosovo, Jeffrey Hovenier, warned that "all attempts to prevent the holding of elections through threats or the use of violence will face the strong condemnation of the international community ".

The Serbian List has boycotted the participation in the elections, on the grounds that Kosovo has not fulfilled its two conditions: the formation of the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority and the withdrawal of the special unit of the Kosovo Police from the northern part of the country.

In this position, Lista Serbe also had the support of official Belgrade.

There are 10 candidates in the race for mayors of municipalities in the north - of them only one from the Serbian community. Alleksandar Jabllonovic, from the Kosovo Serb Party, withdrew from the race just three days before the elections, even though his candidacy was certified by the Central Election Commission.

The municipalities in the north have been without mayors since November of last year, when the Serbian officials of this area resigned from the institutions of Kosovo, due to a decision of the Government in Pristina to re-register cars with illegal Serbian license plates.

Most of the 19 polling stations that will be opened in the north will be located in containers, as structures supported by Belgrade have not allowed the opening of schools./ REL
