Germany's updated immigration rules have come into effect.

Germany has officially implemented changes to its skilled immigration rules as part of the revised Skilled Immigration Act passed by the Bundestag earlier this summer.

The move comes in response to an urgent problem facing German employers, who are currently facing a shortage of hundreds of thousands of workers in various sectors, particularly in IT, technology, healthcare, contracting and logistics, SchengenVisaInfo. com reports.

According to Deutsche Welle, the renewed rules aim to simplify and facilitate the immigration of skilled workers from countries outside the European Union.

The changes are set to be spread over three phases, with the first set of adjustments coming into effect immediately on November 18.

In line with the newly adopted rules, one notable change is the modification of the EU Blue Card system. With immediate effect, the EU Blue Cars system now allows more highly qualified workers from third countries to enter Germany for work purposes without having to submit to the previous German language requirements.

Furthermore, in accordance with the new rules, the annual salary limits for the EU Blue Card have been reduced below €40,000 for the entry level, as well as for jobs that are particularly in demand.

Skilled IT workers who do not have a university degree will also now qualify for an EU Blue Card provided they can prove they have three years of professional experience in the same field./ CNA
