Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez met with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in Madrid. Stressing his support for a two-state solution to end the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians, Sanchez vowed to raise his voice so that the dramatic situation facing the Palestinian people is not forgotten.

"Yes, there is a ceasefire agreement, but this agreement must be real, not fictitious. That is why we will not rest until the attacks against the population stop and there are no more casualties," he continued.

The Spanish Prime Minister also assured that he supports the Palestinian Authority, which he said must play a central and fundamental role in the formation of the governmental mechanisms that will determine the future of the Palestinian people.

"This year, which is ending, has been terrible for the Palestinian people. To rebuild hope, we need a real peace, and this real peace must be based on justice. That is why I want to be clear: those responsible for this genocide must be held accountable, sooner or later, so that the victims can be brought to justice ," he added.

Abbas thanked Spain for recognizing the state of Palestine and for playing a key role in creating an international coalition of countries whose goal is to achieve broader recognition of the Palestinian state. He also called for an end to violence, in all its forms, in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. /CNA
