Kosovo/ Oncology services are interrupted for radiotherapy patients

Patients scheduled for radiotherapy cannot receive this service at the Oncology Clinic in Pristina, the Clinical and University Hospital Service of Kosovo (SHSKUK) announced on Wednesday.

This is due to the numerous atmospheric rains, which have penetrated into the basement of this clinic, thus rendering all the radiotherapy equipment out of order.

“Ekipet e Klinikës së Onkologjisë, bashkë me sektorin teknik dhe atë të pajisjeve mjekësore të SHSKUK-së, kanë ndërmarrë veprime të menjëhershme duke shkyçur nga puna aparaturën e radioterapisë, me qëllim të parandalimit të pasojave të paparashikueshme”, thuhet në njoftim.

Sipas SHSKUK -së, në ndihmë kanë ardhur edhe ekipi zjarrfikësve dhe shërbimeve komunale të cilët kanë asistuar gjatë gjithë kohës.

“Apratura e Radioterapisë për momentin është jashtë funksionit, kurse shërbimet e tjera në Klinikën e Onkologjisë po ofrohen normalisht”, thuhet në njoftim.

Sipas SHSKUK -së, bazuar në vlerësimin final dhe testimet e nevojshme, Kolegjiumi i Klinikës së Onkologjisë do të dalë me rekomandime, se si do veprohet më tutje me trajtimin e rasteve në radioterapi.

SHSKUK has announced that it has notified all patients who receive this service by phone about the termination of radiotherapy services.

Radio Free Europe has tried to get more information about the number of patients who receive this therapy in Oncology and where they will receive them during this time, but this clinic has not provided additional information.

The Oncology Clinic in Pristina is the only center in Kosovo where cancer patients receive chemotherapy or other treatments.
