The Electoral Commission in Serbia overthrows the opposition/ Does not accept

The Republican Election Commission (RKZ) announced on December 29 that it rejected the request of the opposition coalition "Serbia against violence" (SPN) to cancel the elections held on December 17.

As RKZ has said, that list for the elections in the city of Belgrade is not authorized to submit a request to the Republican Election Commission, Beta broadcasts.

The vice-president of RKZ, Marko Jankovic, said that the complaint was submitted by the authorized persons of the Belgrade list to the City Election Commission, which was declared incompetent and sent it to the Republican Election Commission for a decision.

He stated that "Serbia against violence" has submitted a complaint to the High Court in Belgrade, which has decided to reject it as unfounded, since the City's Election Commission is not really competent for this matter.

Jankovic added that "Serbia against violence" demanded the annulment of all the seats under the commission's jurisdiction, starting, as he said, from "the fact that the elections took place in an atmosphere of serious violation of the rules and that the whole process was illegal".

Some members of the Republican Election Commission proposed that this institution be declared incompetent because the complaint was sent to the City Election Commission and that this institution should decide since the context is clear that only city elections are meant.

The largest opposition list "Serbia against violence" accused the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) of theft after the elections.

Since then, protests have been held in the streets of Belgrade demanding the annulment of the results and a repeat of the elections, some of its leaders are on hunger strike, and student organizations have organized protests.

The OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) also expressed doubts about the irregularity of the elections, which on December 18 announced that the elections were marked by major irregularities, misuse of public funds, and media dominance by President Aleksandar Vu?i?. , negative campaigning and fear mongering.

Also, a part of the MEPs demanded an independent investigation of all irregularities reported during the elections held in Serbia on December 17.

The United States of America also called on the authorities in Serbia to investigate the claims of international observers./ REL
