A senior Czech diplomat has been fired after exchanging information with the Russian intelligence service, the Czech Foreign Ministry said.

Local media have reported that this man had access to sensitive data and worked with the Russian intelligence service SVR.

"I can confirm that I have decided to take measures against a worker who collaborated with a foreign power. He will no longer work in the ministry. I will not make further comments on security issues", said the Czech Foreign Minister, Jan Lipavsky.
