Officials in Spain are investigating singer Katy Perry after she allegedly filmed a music video in the dunes of the Balearic Islands without permission.
The video for her latest single "Lifetimes" shows the singer enjoying the beaches and partying in clubs on the islands of Ibiza and Formentera.
But scenes believed to have been filmed amid the sheltered dunes on the island of S'Espalmador in Formentera have raised concerns.
In a statement, the Spanish government claimed that the production company responsible for the video had not asked for permission. Katy Perry has yet to comment on this investigation.
The Balearic Islands' environment department issued a press release on Tuesday, claiming that the video production company had not secured the necessary authorization before filming.
As a result, in their announcement it is stated that "preliminary investigative actions have started".
S'Espalmador is an uninhabited island located north of Formentera, and is approximately 1.8 miles long.
The dunes on the small, privately owned island are of "high ecological value". /CNA
