Kallas: Closing the Strait of Hormuz is dangerous, a diplomatic 'way

A diplomatic "way out" of the current crisis in the Middle East, especially after the US military involvement in the conflict between Israel and Iran, is being sought by European Union foreign ministers, who are meeting today in Brussels. The economic consequences of the crisis are also being examined, especially after Tehran's threats to close the Strait of Hormuz.

This possibility was described as extremely dangerous by the head of European diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, who, arriving at the meeting, referred to the global consequences of any decision by Iran to implement its threats.

"In particular, Iran's closure of the Strait of Hormuz would be extremely dangerous and not good for anyone," Kallas said.

Kallas also said that the main objective of the EU foreign ministers will be to seek ways to prevent further escalation of the conflict between Iran and Israel, stressing the need for a diplomatic "way out." /CNA
