Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said during a visit to a tank factory that Moscow will increase production of tanks - in response to the supply of weapons to Ukraine by Western countries.

"As we know, our adversary [Ukraine] has begged Western countries for airplanes, missiles, tanks. How should we respond? It is clear that in this case, it is natural to increase the production of various armaments, including modern tanks ", he said.

On January 25, the German government responded to Kiev's repeated calls and approved the delivery of Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, as well as their re-export from partner countries.

On the same day, US President Joe Biden announced that the US will send 31 M1 Abrams battle tanks to Ukraine.

The Leopard 2 tank is considered one of the best in Western countries and about 20 countries currently use this tank.

Ukraine has requested 300 such tanks and says the West has so far promised to send it at least 120.

Russia – which launched its invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022 – has more tanks than Ukraine, but the models Moscow has are far inferior to Western tanks.
