The United States condemns the violent incidents of recent days in northern Kosovo, a State Department spokesman told the VOA Serbian service.

The comments of the spokesperson of the Department of State follow the incidents of violence in the north of Kosovo, where on Thursday a policeman was slightly injured in a gun attack. Tensions in the north of Kosovo increased as the date for early elections in the four municipalities in the north of the country approached. During the week, groups of Serbian citizens prevented the opening of the offices of the municipal election commissions, while the police reported shootings and explosions, but no casualties.

“Përdorimi i eksplozivëve nuk është kurrë një metodë e pranueshme proteste dhe rrezikon jetën e njerëzve të pafajshëm”, tha për Zërin e Amerikës zëdhënësi i Departamentit të Shtetit, duke shtuar se “Shtetet e Bashkuara vazhdojnë t'i bëjnë thirrje Kosovës dhe Serbisë që të ushtrojnë përmbajtje dhe të shmangin çdo veprim apo deklaratë që do të përshkallëzonte më tej tensionet.”
