The US Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), on International Anti-Corruption Day and Human Rights Day, sanctioned 40 individuals and entities linked to corruption, as well as 9 countries for abuse of human rights.

Gjatë vitit 2022, Zyra e Departamentit  të Thesarit ndërmori veprime të shumta për të promovuar përgjegjësinë për abuzuesit e të drejtave të njeriut dhe aktorët e korruptuar në të gjithë botën, dhe sanksionoi dhjetëra individë dhe subjekteve në Ballkanin Perëndimor, Bjellorusi, Liberi, Guatemalë, Federatën Ruse, Burma, dhe Iran.

"Aktorët e korruptuar dhe abuzuesit e të drejtave të njeriut mbështeten të dy mangësitë e sistemit financiar ndërkombëtar për të kryer aktivitetet e tyre," tha nënsekretari i Zyrës së Thesarit për Terrorizmin dhe Inteligjencën Financiare, Brian E. Nelson.

“Over the past year, the Treasury Office has made the fight against corruption and serious human rights abuse a top priority, including using financial sanctions and addressing weaknesses in the US and international financial systems. By exposing the scandalous behavior of these actors, we can help disrupt their activities, dismantle their networks and eliminate them from sources," he added, among other things./ CNA.al
