Attack near Israeli consulate in Istanbul/ Erdogan: Ugly terrorist act

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has reacted to the attack that occurred today near the Israeli consulate in Istanbul.

Erdogan in his statement described the attack as a cowardly and despicable act, adding that three terrorists were killed and two police officers were injured. The Turkish president announced that the Prosecutor's Office, police and intelligence services have launched the necessary investigations to fully clarify the incident.

"I would like to announce that we condemn the cowardly attack that took place today in Besiktas, Istanbul. In this heinous terrorist act, 3 terrorists were neutralized, while 2 of our heroic police officers were slightly injured. The prosecution, police and intelligence services have launched the necessary investigations. 

"I pray to God for a speedy recovery of our injured police officers and express my condolences to the Istanbul Police Directorate and the people of Istanbul. We will continue our fight against all forms of terrorism with determination and will not allow the security climate in Turkey to be affected by such evil and premeditated provocations as today ," he said. /CNA
