The attack on Israel/Russia calls on the parties to exercise restraint

Russia calls on all parties to show restraint and express concern about further escalation after Iran attacked Israel.

"We are counting on the states of the region to solve the existing problems with political and diplomatic means", the statement of the Foreign Ministry says.

Moscow added that it has repeatedly warned that the UN Security Council was unable to adequately respond to an attack on an Iranian consulate in Syria that killed seven officers from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, including commanders high.

It comes after the United States, Britain and France opposed a Russian-drafted UN Security Council statement that would have condemned an attack on Iran's embassy compound in Syria.

Iran accused Israel of carrying out that attack, but Israel has said it does not comment on foreign reports./ CNA
