Germany will review the status of Syrian refugees

The Minister of the Interior of Germany, Nancy Faeser, has stated that the protection offered to Syrians will be reviewed.

"In accordance with our laws, the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) will review and cancel it if people no longer need this protection in Germany due to the stabilization of the situation in Syria."

She emphasized that this situation will also apply to those who do not have the right of residence for other reasons such as work or education and do not voluntarily return to Syria.

Faeser added that they are initially focused on security issues.

"Anyone who is well integrated, works, has learned German and made a new home here, should be allowed to stay in Germany."

The German minister said that people who have committed serious crimes should be deported as soon as possible.

"The legal options for this have been greatly expanded and will be used as soon as the situation in Syria allows," said Faeser.

According to the Ministry of the Interior, there are currently about 1 million Syrians living in Germany. "BAMF" has decided to suspend the asylum requests of people who came from Syria after the overthrow of the 61-year-old Baath regime in Syria.
