France and Germany: Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, essential on the road to the EU

The leaders of France and Germany have said that the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, which is mediated by the European Union, is essential in the way of Pristina and Belgrade towards the European bloc.

This is what was said in the separate letters that the French president, Emmanuel Macron, and the German one, Frank Walter-Steinmeier, have sent to their Kosovar counterpart, Vjosa Osmani, for the 15th anniversary of the declaration of Kosovo's independence.

In the letter addressed to Osmani, Macron emphasized the need to restart talks within the Brussels dialogue.

Ndërkaq, Steinmeier tha se Gjermania mbështet perspektivën evropiane të Kosovës, por shtoi se dialogu me Serbinë, mbetet “sfidë thelbësore” për Kosovën.

“Dialogu me Serbinë, i udhëhequr nga BE-ja, mbetet një sfidë thelbësore për vendin tuaj referuar normalizimit të marrëdhënieve të të dyjave vendeve dhe promovimit të qëndrueshëm të sigurisë dhe stabilitetit rajonal. Se sa i rëndësishëm është angazhimi i të dyja palëve në bisedime, këtë e kanë treguar rishtazi edhe tensionet e fundit. Gjithashtu, gatishmëria e të dyja palëve për një bashkëpunim konstruktiv dhe një bashkëjetesë paqësore mbetet esenciale për rrugën drejt BE-së”, tha ai.
