French farmers, in protest/ They block the roads with hundreds of tractors

French farmers rose up this Tuesday in protest in the southwestern city of Toulouse.

They blocked the main roads with nearly 400 tractors, causing traffic chaos.

A thousand farmers from all over southwestern France protested strongly against the government's agricultural policy and taxes.

They claim that government policies are making them face more and more difficulties.

The protesters say that the increased taxes and social charges are causing difficulties for them, as the costs for fuel and animal feed have increased along with the taxes.

The farmers left for Toulouse this morning in tractors. When they arrived at the building of the regional authority they threw piles of organic waste in front of it, loads of grass, rotten fruit and blew their horns.

Buses changed their routes, while the local police chief urged residents to avoid the center of Toulouse.
