Two dead in fire in California

Two people have been found dead amid a huge wildfire that has engulfed northern California, which has forced thousands of people to flee their homes.

The bodies of the dead couple were found inside a car in the driveway of a property engulfed in flames, the BBC reports.

The McKinney fire has burned more than 50,000 acres, making it the largest in California this year.

The identity of the two dead people is not being released until their families are notified.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom has declared a state of emergency because of the fire, which started Friday afternoon before rapidly exploding in size due to a combination of dry fuel following a drought, strong winds and lightning strikes. . /CNA.al
