Ukrainian drones strike Russia's main petrochemical complex

The governor of the Bashkortostan region, Radiy Khabirov, reported in a Telegram post that Ukrainian drones attacked the Salavat petrochemical complex, one of Russia's largest. This is the second such attack in less than a week.

"Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat has been subjected to another terrorist drone attack. We are assessing the extent of the damage. All emergency services are at the scene and firefighting measures are being taken," Radiy Khabirov said.

In recent weeks, Ukraine has stepped up its drone attacks on Russia's vast oil and gas infrastructure, targeting refineries and export pipelines. The attacks come as peace talks with Moscow have stalled.

According to traders and retailers, Russia is experiencing shortages of some types of fuel because the attacks have reduced refinery output and high borrowing costs are preventing stations from stocking up on fuel.
