DASH: We cannot set a time frame for Kosovo-Serbia recognition

The US Department of State sees the Association of Serb-majority municipalities as key to building the future of Kosovo as a sovereign state integrated into the Euro-Atlantic structures. The spokesperson of the US Department of State, Ned Price, during a conference on Wednesday, said that through dialogue they believe that Kosovo and Serbia should reach a comprehensive agreement for the normalization of relations. But Price emphasized that they cannot set a deadline for mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia.

“Sigurisht që ne duam që këto çështje, këto tensione mes Kosovës dhe Serbisë të zgjidhen sa më shpejt të jetë e mundur. Dhe kështu ne do të mbështesim këtë dialog të BE-së. Ne do të ndërmarrim çdo hap që mundemi si partner i Kosovës dhe i Serbisë dhe i BE-së për të mbështetur përshpejtimin në çdo mënyrë të mundshme të përmirësimit të marrëdhënieve ndërmjet Kosovës dhe Serbisë. Por, ne thjesht nuk mund të vendosim një kornizë kohore për të. Sigurisht që ne duam që këto çështje të zgjidhen sa më shpejt të jetë e mundur”, tha ai.

Takimi në Bruksel 

Recently, there have been some developments in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue. The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, and the Serbian President, Aleksandër Vu?i?, in a meeting held on February 27, have accepted a proposal from the European Union in Brussels, entitled "Agreement towards the normalization of Kosovo-Serbia". The agreement, for which preparations have been made since the fall of 2022, and covers many aspects in the relations between the two countries, has not yet been signed, but has been officially published by the EU. The agreement is basically an addition to the agreement reached in Brussels in 2013, between Pristina and Belgrade, which envisaged the normalization of relations, after Kosovo declared independence in 2008, an action that Serbia has never accepted.
