The Basic Court in Pristina has set a one-month detention measure for ZA, who is suspected of war crimes against the civilian population during the last war in Kosovo.

ZA, with Serbian nationality, was arrested on March 7, and according to the Special Prosecutor's Office of Kosovo, he is suspected that in March 1999, at the police station in Kamenica, as an official, together with other Serbian policemen, they had initially beaten "with rubber rods and kicks" and then they had tortured the victim with the initials BM "inhumanely"

According to the Special Prosecutor's Office, the victim suffered serious injuries and his life was "seriously threatened" during the violence that reportedly lasted for an hour and a half.

The arrested person is also suspected that in the period February-March 1999, he took part in "the expulsion and violent displacement of the citizens of Kamenica and its surroundings, then he started looting houses, and then with the aim of damaging the property of Albanians , he set the fire, as well as participated in the mistreatment of Albanian civilians".

Against the March 8 decision of the Basic Court of Pristina, the parties can appeal to the Court of Appeal.

Otherwise, in the last war in Kosovo in 1998-99, over 13,000 civilians were killed and thousands more disappeared.
