Russia launched barrages of missiles across the territory of Ukraine, attacking the country's energy infrastructure, on March 9.

Ukrainian authorities said that due to the attacks, people were injured and residential buildings were damaged.

Air raid sirens were heard for hours across the country, including the capital of Kiev, where explosions also occurred in two western areas. Defense systems were activated across the country and it was not clear how many missiles hit the targets.

In eastern Ukraine, 15 rockets hit Kharkiv and the northeastern suburbs, hitting residential buildings.

Ukrainian Railways reported power outages in certain areas, with 15 trains delayed by up to an hour. Authorities in the capital said 40% of Kiev residents were without heat due to emergency power outages.

Russia has been hitting Ukraine with massive missile strikes since October last year.

Initially, rocket barrages targeting the country's energy infrastructure took place weekly, plunging entire cities into darkness, but have become less frequent over time, with commentators speculating that Moscow may be conserving ammunition.

The last mass attack, before this one on March 9, took place on February 16./ Rel
