The head of the foreign policy of the European Union, Josep Borrell, said after the separate meetings with the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti and the Serbian President, Aleksandar Vu?i?, that an agreement has been reached on the need to hold new elections in the four municipalities with the majority of residents. He said that after more than four hours of discussions, the two leaders are clear about the seriousness of the situation in the north, but they have different approaches and interpretations of the situation.

Zogti Borrell said that together with the European envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia talks, Miroslav Lajçak presented the parties with the expectations of the European Union.

"For Kosovo to immediately suspend police operations in the municipal buildings in the north and for the four mayors to temporarily perform their duties outside the municipal offices. "Serbia should ensure that the protesters leave the municipal buildings simultaneously with the departure of the Kosovo police," said Mr. Borrell.

Both parties, he said, should announce new elections in the four municipalities, with the unconditional participation of Serbs in them.
