Borrell: Israel has the right to defend itself in accordance with international law

The European Union has strongly condemned the attacks by Hamas in Israel, stating that the Israeli state has the right to defend itself in accordance with international law, in the face of attacks.

EU High Representative Josep Borrell said the bloc stands in full solidarity with Israel.

"The EU calls for an immediate end to these senseless attacks and violence, which will only further increase tensions on the ground and seriously undermine the aspirations of the Palestinian people for peace," Borrell wrote on social media.

"We are at war" , said the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu.

Israel's Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Israel Katz, said that Israel will cut off the electricity supply to the Gaza Strip. Gaza's energy authority says 80% of Gaza's electricity supply has been shut down following Israel's announcement./ CNA
