US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a phone conversation this Saturday. Foreign media reports that during the call, Zelensky asked President Trump to mediate peace in Ukraine, just as he did in the Middle East.
A source for international media said the call lasted about 30 minutes.
The two leaders also discussed the possibility of Ukraine obtaining long-range Tomahawk missiles.
The Tomahawks would give Ukraine the ability to strike deep inside Russia, including Moscow, and Ukrainians argue that they would help force Russian leader Vladimir Putin to the negotiating table.
"If a war can be stopped in one region, then surely other wars can be stopped, including the Russian war," Zelensky wrote in a Facebook post.
