Local elections in Kosovo/ Distribution of materials begins

The CEC in Kosovo has begun distributing election materials for the October 12 elections.

In a statement to the media, CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi announced that the materials are being distributed to the Municipal Counting Centers, from where they will be distributed to the Voting Centers on Sunday morning.

"According to plans, the Central Election Commission is distributing election material, including ballots, which will be used in the voting process on October 12. These election materials are placed in the Municipal Counting Centers in every municipality in the country and from there, on Sunday morning, they will be distributed to the Voting Centers," he said.

He also emphasized that over 3.6 million ballots have been printed, 1.8 million for each type of election.

"Based on the decision of the Central Election Commission, over 3.6 million ballots have been printed for the first round of elections for mayors and Municipal Assemblies, 1.8 million for each type of election," stated spokesperson Elezi.

2 million 25 thousand 105 voters will vote to elect mayors in 38 municipalities in the country and members of 38 municipal assemblies.

The number of political entities certified to participate in these elections is 93, of which, 32 political parties, 2 coalitions, 32 civic initiatives and 27 independent candidates.

The total number of certified candidates representing these political entities is: 5,624 candidates, of which 205 candidates for the mayoral elections and 5,419 candidates for the Municipal Assembly elections.

Of the total number, 205 candidates have been certified for the mayoral elections alone, of which 185 are men and 20 are women. Meanwhile, 5,419 candidates have been certified for the Municipal Assembly elections, of which 3,395 are men and 2,024 are women.

The voting process will take place in 948 Voting Centers, with a total of 2,625 polling stations, of which 910 centers with 2,571 polling stations for regular voting and 38 centers, one for each municipality, with 54 polling stations, to enable conditional voting.

According to the Voters' List, the number of citizens eligible to vote tomorrow in the Republic of Kosovo is 2,025,105, who are distributed in 38 municipalities./ CNA
